Security Guard – General

Delta Security and Safety Services is currently hiring for Full Time, Part Time or Casual security work, for a variety of positions and experience levels. These positions are available anywhere within the GTA. Both daytime and overnight shifts are available. Compensation for these positions is dependent on qualifications and the post that you are selected for. Qualified individuals without their Ontario security guard licenses may be offered discounted or subsidized training programs – please inquire for details.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit outstanding customer service skills while maintaining building security
  • Work together with other security departments; effective communication skills are essential.
  • Liaise with police services as required on behalf of Delta Security and Safety Services.-
  • Prepare professional, detailed reports for use by clients and law enforcement agencies.

Qualifications

  • Access to a vehicle is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts is an asset but not required.
  • Must have valid Ontario Security Guard License and current First Aid/CPR
  • Must be exceptionally well spoken, polite, and effective at communication.-Must have a strong command of written English.
  • Experience is an asset, but not required;
  • Working knowledge of provincial regulations, the Criminal Code of Canada and the Trespass to Property Act are recommended.

Loss Prevention Investigator

As a Loss Prevention Investigator, you will represent our asset protection team by actively preventing theft, maintaining the safety of employees, and conducting investigations. You will make apprehensions following our 5-step guideline, and work closely with police services. Flexible work schedules, including full time or part time options are available for this position.

Compensation for this position is dependent on experience. Entry level positions are available for exceptional candidates with prior security experience, or any candidate with current or recent education in a field related to criminal justice or police foundations at an accredited post secondary institution.

Duties│ Responsibilities │Requirements:

  • Detect shoplifters using a combination of CCTV surveillance, and plain-clothes loss prevention
  • Conduct apprehensions; must have thorough understanding of Section 494 of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Provide general security for retail clients as required, and enforce site-specific health and safety policies
  • Be comfortable with high-conflict situations, and strong at tactical communication and de-escalation techniques
  • Prepare detailed reports for Toronto Police Services as required
  • Ability to work nights and weekends appropriately to retail business needs is an asset
  • Must be able to stand / walk sales floor for up to 8 hours at a time
  • Strong attendance, and independence is an essential function of the job

Senior Loss Prevention Investigator

As a Senior Loss Prevention Investigator, you will represent our asset protection team by actively preventing theft, maintaining the safety of employees, and conducting investigations. You will make apprehensions following our 5-step guideline, and work closely with police services. Flexible work schedules, including full time or part time options are available for this position. As a senior investigator, you will be responsible for maintaining client relationships at high profile sites, and responsible for supervision and mentorship of junior staff members.

Compensation for this position is dependent on experience. For our senior less prevention positions, we will always match your prior rate of pay for similar positions, whether they were in-house or contract.

Only candidates experienced in undercover retail loss prevention will be considered for this position.

Our student internship program will let you obtain your security guard license and give you access to our in-house training programs in Use of Force, Loss Prevention, First Aid/CPR and Smart Serve – for free – all while obtaining real world experience. You will get to work at a wide variety of sites, and we guarantee that you will get to witness and/or take part in a real arrest as a part of your training.

What’s in it for us, you ask? Quality people are to core of our business; most of our interns continue to work with us in a paid position after their training – both full time and part time options are available.

  • 80 hour program of job shadowing (part or full time) at real security sites partnered with a Delta Security guard or management member
  • 20 hours at uniform sites, 60 hours at undercover loss prevention sites
  • FREE Security Training offered in-house, which includes:
    • Online Security Guard Training Course
    • Use of Force, Handcuff and Baton Course
    • Smart Serve Certification
